I like Jay Mohr. I have seen him in a variety of films and TV roles over the last decade or so, but it wasn't until listening to the Opie & Anthony Show before it was no longer on terrestrial radio again that he is actually a comedian. Like many music stars, comedians if they are lucky make the jump from stand-up and sketch comedy to sitcoms and feature films. Gary Unmarried is refreshingly funny with an adult sensibility without requiring one to tune into a premium cable channel. The show is perfectly fine for adults and I'm sure older teenagers enjoy it too, but kids younger might not get as much out of it so parents' discretion is advised. The 2009 People's Choice Award winner for Favorite New TV Comedy comes to DVD with all twenty season one episodes spread out across three DVDs in 16 by 9 enhanced (1.78:1) widescreen and English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. Picture and sound quality are terrific. English Subtitles For The Deaf And Hearing Impaired and French and Spanish Language Subtitles are encoded onto all three DVDs as options.
Extra value materials include bloopers, a behind the scenes look at the show, a short featuring cast member Ed Begley, Jr. bringing his eco-friendly knowledge to the show and a look at what day on the set of the show is like with Jay Mohr. The three discs come nicely packaged in a single size DVD keep case that holds three discs comfortably.
